1996 Subaru Impreza Driven by the McRae Rallying Legends Is Selling for Peanuts

Having started with father Jimmy and his record win of no less than five British Rally Championship titles (1981, 1982, 1984, 1987, and 1988), the McRae story was taken further by sons Colin and Alister, who became the World Rally champion and British Rally champion, respectively.

As successful as this family’s story was on the circuits, as dramatic it was away from them. Colin McRae, one of the most famous rally drivers of our generation, tragically left this world together with his five-year-old son in 2007, following the crash of a helicopter he was piloting in Jerviswood, Lanark, half a mile from the family’s home.

The racing exploits of these three men were sung by our society in various forms, including in video games. Their property, when no longer needed by the family, often went under the hammer, selling for big bucks.
