Eastern Canadian Rally Championship Report

After three events contested in Quebec, the Eastern Canadian Rally Championship (ECRC) presented the Black Bear Rally last weekend in Ontario, as the fourth round of its 2022 season. A rally held in dusty conditions and hot summer temperatures, this event’s history includes winners as prestigious as American Travis Pastrana. This year, only teams from Ontario and Quebec were registered, with the victory going to Jonathan Drake and Ian Lantz. Read More →

PNW’S BIGGEST SUBARU MEET GETS THE DIRTFISH TREATMENT

Subarus. We love them here at DirtFish. Every one of our Rally School vehicles sports the Pleiades star cluster on the hood – whether they’re the all-wheel-drive WRX or rear-wheel-drive BRZ. But for one day only on Sunday, August 7, DirtFish was about more than just its black and orange WRX and BRZ fleet. There were colors from the full boxer-engined spectrum. Big Northwest had come to town and DirtFish had been turned into Subaru… Read More →

2022 Honda Civic Si vs. Subaru WRX Comparison Test: Strange Bedfellows

There are likely tons of enthusiasts who think this comparison test would never be a fair fight. Conventional wisdom suggests all-wheel-drive sport compacts like the 2022 Subaru WRX are inherently better than front-drive cars like the 2022 Honda Civic Si, thanks to their four-corner traction. They offer stability and performance you supposedly can’t get with only two driven wheels. Read More →

Su-bear-ru: Bear spends night in US couple’s car

A bear that let itself into a US couple’s car had to spend the night there after shutting itself in. The ursine intruder successfully navigated the handle on the outside of the door — possibly in a hunt for food — but seemingly couldn’t work out how to open it again from the inside. Read More →

Custom subaru 360 beach van oozes summer vibes with its orange hood and retro seats

A Subaru 360 has been transformed by car services company Forest Auto Factory into a summer ride by adding orange to the car design as the color of the eye-catching hood and frame and switching up the seat style with retro stripes. The creation appeared at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 and, recently, at Asomobi 2022 in Makuhari (from August 7th to 8th, 2022), dressed up in its revamped look and looking ready for some… Read More →

A 2002 Forester that doesn’t want to die: 329,000 miles and still counting.

A 2002 Forester that doesn’t want to die: 329,000 miles and still counting.

Some time ago, I was told that the design life span on a Subaru powertrain was 500,000 miles, and that’s what Subaru advertised in Japan. Are you going to see that in the State of Minnesota? Heck no. However, we have a vehicle that is trying to come close. I purchased this 2002 Forester with 271,000 miles a decade or so ago, intending to use it to haul stuff as my other vehicle at the… Read More →

2022 Subaru WRX GT Road Test | Variable expectations

The redesigned 2022 Subaru WRX family looks a bit different from years prior. With the STI now DOA and this new GT model topping the range, you’d be forgiven for seeing this transformation as an about-face for a nameplate that grew an international following based on its motorsports forays. But despite the GT’s more luxurious pretensions, it brings some performance features to the WRX family for the first time, meriting evaluation even if its transmission… Read More →

Few midsize cars excel in updated side crash test

Notes: The Subaru Outback is the only midsize car to earn a good rating.. In the test, the new barrier weighs 4,200 pounds — close to the weight of today’s midsize SUVs — and strikes the test vehicle at 37 mph, compared with a 3,300-pound barrier traveling at 31 mph in the original evaluation. Only three of seven midsize cars tested earn good or acceptable ratings in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s updated side… Read More →
