Subaru Looks Back On The WRX’s Illustrious History

For many ’80s and ’90s kids, the Gran Turismo series opened up a door to previously unheard-of motoring icons. From the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to the Subaru Impreza WRX, car-obsessed gamers could virtually pilot automotive forbidden fruit from the comfort of their living rooms. While the first-generation Impreza was available locally, the brand never offered the WRX derivative in the US. Still, the nameplate has amassed a massive following since then, with successive models eventually… Read More →

First Drive: 2022 Subaru BRZ

The mark of any true sportscar is properly terrible cupholders. Take the current Mazda MX-5 and its wonky reconfigurable holders: they’re either tucked back between the seats or stuck in the passenger’s footwell. Likewise, the parallel cupholders in the new 2022 Subaru BRZ are just awful, designed by somebody who apparently thinks human beings absorb fluids with their elbows. Or maybe they just expect you to keep both hands on the wheel. Read More →

10 Things We Actually Like About The Subaru SVX

In 1991, Subaru decided that innovation was the answer to winning the luxury car war. The result was the wedge-shaped SVX that featured striking styling and a host of new features and technologies. Unfortunately, the customer disagreed with Subaru’s vision of the future, and the SVX turned out to be a massive flop. Still, fine examples of the underrated SVX remain on the used market. The JDM, or Japanese Domestic Market, model was fittingly called… Read More →

Friday Favourite: The star-making Subaru that hooked a future WRC ace

The World Rally Championship’s Group A era that falls between the fearsome Group B monsters and 1997-onwards era of World Rally Cars often gets forgotten about in the annals of rally history. But for M-Sport WRC team leader Craig Breen, a Subaru from that period stands out as his all-time favourite car Read More →

Ice Racing Is the Only Place Where a Subaru Impreza Can Keep Up With a GT3 Cup

Traction is the great equalizer in racing. No matter how much power or aero you have, you’ll always be limited by how much of it you can actually translate to the surface. This race between a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and a Subaru Impreza on ice is a great demonstrator. Despite the great disparity in specs, the two cars were matched up in the same heat during a recent Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club-sanctioned ice racing… Read More →

Subaru shakes down modified 2022 BRZ SUPER GT challenger

The 2022-spec BRZ was revealed to the press at Fuji Speedway on Friday ahead of a shakedown test. While outwardly-similar to the title-winning 2021 machine, the front bodywork has been modified in line with SUPER GT’s GT300 regulations, which unlike FIA GT3 rules do not fix a car’s aerodynamic specification. A pair of gold stripes have also been added to the livery to reflect Subaru’s 2021 title success, the brand’s first in two decades of… Read More →

Subaru Is The Latest Automaker To Shame Its Dealers Over Markups

There’s a local Subaru dealer in Orange County, Irvine Subaru, that has a pretty healthy inventory, especially if you’re in the market for an Outback. They have 57 to choose from, 12 of those are the Outback Wilderness. But it’ll cost you, as every single one is marked up to the same price: $45,673. The markup is one example of many that led to Subaru of America’s CEO to send out a letter telling dealers they need to stop. Read More →

Prodrive’s seven best race and rally cars

If you’ve followed motorsport for the last four decades, whether it be the WRC, WEC or BTCC, you’ll have heard of Prodrive. The company is a motorsport engineering powerhouse and has won almost everywhere it’s competed. It was founded in 1984 by David Richards, a man who trained as an accountant before ditching that entirely and focus on his passion: motorsport. Having spent eight years as a co-driver in the British and Scandinavian rally championships,… Read More →

THE ARA PRODIGY WITH RALLY ROOTS AND BIG PLANS

The American Rally Association presented by DirtFish National podium had a new face at the top spot at Sno*Drift last weekend. Mark Piatkowski of MAP Rally Team beat the odds in his home-built, humble chariot of a Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS in one of the most treacherous rallies the ARA has seen in a while. While Piatkowski is the defending National LN4 champion, he hasn’t stepped up to anything more powerful this year; managing to… Read More →
