It’s hard to believe the Subaru WRX STI hasn’t been a thing for going on five years. We’ve heard multiple times that the accessible performance icon isn’t truly dead—it’s just on hiatus, to be revived in some electrified form, whether hybrid or battery-electric. At the Japan Mobility Show at the end of October, Subaru will pull covers off of two STI-themed concepts—one fully electric, and another that retains the WRX’s signature horizontally-opposed engine as a base. Now, on the… Read More →

For those of us who like to have some fun behind the wheel, it’s been a bummer that Subaru hasn’t sold a performance-focused STI variant in America since the 2021 model year. Subaru isn’t shouting about it, but maybe it should. The Crosstrek Hybrid is back for 2026, quietly returning after slipping out of the lineup a few years ago. Back then, Subaru’s hybrid experiment barely moved the needle: decent on paper, short on payoff. This time, the brand’s smallest SUV comes back swinging, combining more power, smarter tech, and the same all-terrain DNA that made the Crosstrek a cult favorite (a nice little money-maker for the… Read More →

In the UK, the Subaru Forester and Outback are usually driven by people who have enough money to buy two or more Range Rovers, but prefer to fly under the radar instead of flaunting it—Subaru UK MD Lorraine Bishton calls it ‘stealth wealth’. Little has changed with the Forester in its 25-year life: it’s still square, tough, and roomy. It’s an original SUV; something that existed before a time when manufacturers fitted their cars with… Read More →

Subaru has once again surprised the industry by patenting a suspension system that can change both ride height and wheel camber at the same time—and do it while the car is moving. Filed under a patent titled Suspension device and vehicle, the design centers on an additional powered link mounted at the top of the strut. As the suspension compresses and rebounds, this link shifts the assembly’s position, adjusting body height and wheel angle in… Read More →

As great as it would be if everyone could own cool sports cars, the unfortunate reality is that most people really just need a practical, reliable, fuel-efficient daily driver. And for many, that means buying a crossover or SUV. If you’re in the market for a new one, the good news is, you have a ridiculous number of options. The bad news is, with so many options, choosing one isn’t always easy, especially if you… Read More →

In spite of what the name might suggest, the Subrau Uncharted represents a more clearly mapped course for the Japanese brand’s latest EV that looks and feels less badge-engineered than the Subaru Solterra initially did. Looks aside, the USPs are minimal, but the permanent all-wheel-drive aspect of the range-topping version and slightly raised ground clearance are sure to resonate with Subaru fans and mark it out as a more rugged EV than the equivalent Toyota.… Read More →

We have a new Subaru performance champion, folks, and those who have a soft spot for the brand’s rally history might wince a bit. The new Uncharted SUV is not only the brand’s latest electric car, but also now it’s quickest. Subaru doesn’t shy away from the fact that this is also a Toyota C-HR+, with senior folk within the brand assuring us that the development work with Toyota was 50/50 on this – just… Read More →
