BLOCK WINS OJIBWE IN DOMINANT FASHION

Ken Block has closed the gap to his American Rally Association presented by DirtFish National championship rival Brandon Semenuk after a win on the Ojibwe Forests Rally. Block went into the day in second place behind Travis Pastrana, and gained four of the five second deficit he had back on the day opening stage nine, but an off-turned-retirement on stage 10 was the end of Pastrana’s chances of a win, as the car was undrivable.… Read More →

The 2023 Subaru Solterra is an all-new and all-electric SUV roughly the size of a Subaru Forester. Co-developed alongside the 2022 Toyota bZ4X, the teams from Subaru and Toyota were allowed to make small changes to tailor each vehicle to their prospective customers and better align with each company’s identity. Toyota chose to make a front-wheel-drive bZ4X to keep the price lower and increase its potential range. Meanwhile, Subaru leaned into its outdoorsy image, made… Read More →

ROAD TEST: 2022 Subaru BRZ review

The second-generation of the brand’s wildly-popular collaboration with Toyota. The two Japanese brands joined forces to revive the concept of a truly affordable sports car with the BRZ and the Toyota 86. It used elements from both brands to create a front-engine, rear-wheel drive coupe for less than $40k – and unsurprisingly it was a hit for both brands. The Crossroads Stage

The Crossroads Stage

Crossroads is Ojibwe Forests Rally’s first stage and is most well known for its jump. At 10.5 miles long, the stage is of medium length with three distinct sections. This year’s race start is at Gladen Construction, with a 16-mile transit heading south to the stage. Ojibwe Forests Preview

Ojibwe Forests Preview

In 2004 I traveled with Doug Havir to Helsinki, Finland, for advanced rally training. Upon traveling halfway across the planet and arriving at Jakke Honkanen’s Rally School, we discovered, “Hey, this is just like northern Minnesota with different road signs!” I guess that explains the large Finnish population in northern Minnesota. The state of Minnesota boasts the biggest percentage of people with Finnish ancestry in the country. The terrain is similar. There are sandy roads… Read More →
