On Saturday, July 13, 2013, 371 Subaru owners from nine states broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record for the “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars” in the world. In addition to breaking the record, Subaru and parade participants supported two very worthy charities — PAWS Chicago and Salute, Inc. Both organizations received $5,000 to support their individual areas of philanthropy. Subaru was the previous GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record holder for “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars.” Subaru… Read More →

Now, I’ll be the first to admit to having a bias towards the 4th generation Legacy (2003-2009) with its sleek silhouette and frameless door windows – a unique design trait that most Subaru’s had up until recent years. In a visual sense, the Japanese brand seems to have conformed to the motoring mainstream whilst losing some of its aesthetic identity in the process. All is not lost though; giving the camo-clad test mule the digital… Read More →

Most of us don’t remember a time when Subaru wasn’t a part of our automotive landscape, but some enthusiasts remember that it was the legendary importer Malcolm Bricklin who first brought the marque to America. Read More →

Fuji Heavy Industries expects to hit a domestic production record of more than 620,000 Subaru vehicles in fiscal 2013, led by exports of SUVs to the US. It plans to produce around 310,000 vehicles in Japan in the first six months of FY2013 and has seen sales in the US rise almost 25% year on year in January-June this year to a record 204,597 units, led by brisk sales of the Forester. Niall McShea got his Chinese rally championship campaign back on track with a strong second place on the Zhangye Rally. The former World production champion from Fermanagh, now driving for the Red Bull China Skoda team, finished just over a minute behind the Subaru of Mark Higgins and over eight minutes clear of the third-placed Li Wei, the leading Chinese driver, also in a Subaru. Fuji Heavy Industries, the corporate parent of Subaru, celebrated its 60th birthday a few days ago. The storied multinational company makes everything from wind turbines to airplane parts, and conducts business in more than a hundred countries. Even though the origins of the company date back to 1917, the Fuji Heavy Industries we know today was formed in 1953. But it wasn’t until the following year that the world got a look at the first… Read More →

Is Subaru the safest carmaker of all? According to some new research, it just might be. Findings released by a leading price comparison website show that Subaru drivers make fewer at-fault claims per 1,000 owners than drivers of any other brand of car. The website analysed nearly 13.5million quotes during the past 12months and “at fault” claims made during the previous five years, with Subaru drivers making the fewest number of claims, followed by drivers… Read More →

Subaru could make a U-turn on its decision to axe the WRX STI from the UK line-up, Auto Express has learned. Back in December 2012 we broke the story that the new WRX STI, shown here in our spy pictures, wouldn’t be sold in the UK due to insufficient demand, but changing market conditions means it’s back on the table. Wow, this 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX STI is quite orange. Tangerine actually, but judging by the reaction on Twitter I’d say this car was liked. At first I hated it, which surprised me because I don’t mind a little flash. But after a whole weekend, I started enjoying the silliness of it all. Like the WR Blue version, people see the color, the wing and get out of the way. Everything from a Chevrolet Camaro… Read More →

In the five minutes it took to complete a quick 2-mile jaunt on the main boulevard in Big Bear Lake, California, I counted four last-gen Subaru Foresters. That shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise, considering the crossover is the automaker’s second-best selling model after the Outback (76347 Foresters were sold in 2012), but for some reason, I was amazed at how many I saw in such a short amount of time. It’s safe… Read More →
