Fuji Heavy Industries celebrates 60th birthday

Fuji Heavy Industries, the corporate parent of Subaru, celebrated its 60th birthday a few days ago. The storied multinational company makes everything from wind turbines to airplane parts, and conducts business in more than a hundred countries. Even though the origins of the company date back to 1917, the Fuji Heavy Industries we know today was formed in 1953. But it wasn’t until the following year that the world got a look at the first… Read More →

Subaru makes a claim to be the safest of all

Is Subaru the safest carmaker of all? According to some new research, it just might be. Findings released by a leading price comparison website show that Subaru drivers make fewer at-fault claims per 1,000 owners than drivers of any other brand of car. The website analysed nearly 13.5million quotes during the past 12months and “at fault” claims made during the previous five years, with Subaru drivers making the fewest number of claims, followed by drivers… Read More →

Subaru WRX STI could still come to UK

Subaru could make a U-turn on its decision to axe the WRX STI from the UK line-up, Auto Express has learned. Back in December 2012 we broke the story that the new WRX STI, shown here in our spy pictures, wouldn’t be sold in the UK due to insufficient demand, but changing market conditions means it’s back on the table. 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition review notes

Wow, this 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX STI is quite orange. Tangerine actually, but judging by the reaction on Twitter I’d say this car was liked. At first I hated it, which surprised me because I don’t mind a little flash. But after a whole weekend, I started enjoying the silliness of it all. Like the WR Blue version, people see the color, the wing and get out of the way. Everything from a Chevrolet Camaro… Read More →

Truck Trend: 2014 Subaru Forester Manual AWD PZEV First Test

In the five minutes it took to complete a quick 2-mile jaunt on the main boulevard in Big Bear Lake, California, I counted four last-gen Subaru Foresters. That shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise, considering the crossover is the automaker’s second-best selling model after the Outback (76347 Foresters were sold in 2012), but for some reason, I was amazed at how many I saw in such a short amount of time. It’s safe… Read More →

What Do African Medics Drive? This One Has A Subaru Forester

On major drive events, including our May tour of South Africa’s Garden Route in new 2014 Subaru Forester XTs, organizers often include a medic among the team. This ensures prompt response to emergencies when the group may be hours from the nearest medical facility. From broken bones to insect bites, car crashes to allergic reactions, the medic is not only the first responder but in some cases the only medical professional in hundreds of miles. Read More →

Editors’ Page: 2014 Subaru Legacy

Among the dozen mainstream midsize sedans on the market, the Subaru Legacy stands in contrast to them all with one significant standard feature: all-wheel drive (AWD). While this traction-enhancing setup should come as no surprise since it’s a Subaru — all of the automaker’s vehicles except the sporty new BRZ are born with it — all-wheel drive is a major distinguisher in this segment of front-drive cars. In fact, only one other contender even offers… Read More →

First Drive: Subaru Forester

Few cars matter to a manufacturer as much as the Forester SUV does to Subaru. The new Forester will take a third of the brand’s UK volume this year despite being on sale for only six months – next year it will be closer to half. Read More →

Sports Car Commuting: 2013 Subaru BRZ

There’s one aspect we all agree on regarding our long-term 2013 Subaru BRZ: It’s an absolute riot to drive, which is perhaps the strongest reason why the $26,000 sports coupe took top honors as Cars.com’s Best of 2013 winner. Read More →
