The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness stands at the top of the Crosstrek lineup, getting the most hardware and software of any model. The Wilderness name alludes to off-roading and overlanding capability, but this trim also adds equipment inside to make the interior easier to clean or prevent it from looking dirty. The new Wilderness model builds on the Crosstrek Limited and is powered only by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 182 hp and 178… Read More →

We only bottomed out once. Seriously. Through miles of Bureau of Land Management roads, a private off-road park, and even a single-track rock-studded trail, the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness took every dip, drop, and crack with grace and enthusiasm. Better yet, it was comfortable and quiet while doing it, unlike some other off-road icons we know. The Crosstrek Wilderness is not a Jeep Wrangler—for better or worse—although Subaru positions it as a viable alternative. Read More →

It’s no secret that car enthusiasts have been a bit down on Subaru recently. With the company’s World Rally Championship days a distant memory and the newest iteration of the competent WRX lacking an STI to look up to, it feels like the days of exciting Pleiades-emblazoned vehicles are behind us. Foresters, Outbacks, and Ascents for Pacific Northwest-residing soccer moms seem to be the main output of the company, and while they’re good, they’re not… Read More →

Mountain goats look unbalanced—they have goofy faces accented by a tuft of chin hair, and their heads look far too small for their bodies. Yet these large, oddly proportioned beasts possess extreme rock-climbing capability, able to navigate sheer cliff faces and perch on the narrowest of ledges. In the automotive kingdom, the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness is similarly deceptive. Compared to boxy body-on-frame off-roaders such as the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco, the Crosstrek’s… Read More →

Subaru reserves its Wilderness pack for only its most capable vehicles, with cars like the Forester and Outback previously using the extra ground clearance and rugged accessories to bravely go where no Subaru has gone before. Now, the Japanese company’s smallest model is getting the Wilderness treatment and we’re off to see what it’s like. Read More →

You know, it’s strange that the Subaru WRX hasn’t been in the wider enthusiast conversation much. With all the glory going to the Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai Elantra N, Toyota GR Corolla, and Subaru BRZ, it always felt like the new, softer VB-generation WRX never hit the mark. Subaru now has an opportunity to fix that with the upcoming 2024 Subaru WRX TR. Read More →

When Subaru announced that the Impreza would ditch the sedan body style and focus on it being a hatchback-only experience for 2024, it certainly had us asking questions. For one thing, could we buy a four-door in time? (my wife was in the market for a new vehicle back then) and how will consumers respond to this radical transition. Thankfully, the Subaru faithful have responded positively to the changes, and after spending some time with… Read More →

Talk about the 2022 Subaru WRX, and the first word that comes to mind is perhaps related to speed. “Sporty,” “fast,” “enthusiastic,” or a similar description is usually what we all think when we see a WRX around us. But practical? Not since Subaru killed the WRX wagon in 2007 and hatchback in 2014. Read More →
