During nearly 20 years of blissful marriage, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have been able to splurge on cars. The couple is worth $519 million and must divide their shared possessions. Urban might be happy to learn that Nicole probably isn’t gunning for his $6.5 million car collection, as she has no passion for high-performance vehicles. She shared that her former husband got her a $423k Lamborghini Urus, but she let him drive it. While… Read More →

Hybrid powertrains seem like a no-brainer for Subaru. When the automaker surveyed its buyers on causes they’re most passionate about, 34 percent said wildlife and nature preservation, and 23 percent expressed interest in environmentalism. Given the brand’s nature-loving clientele, it’s surprising the company hasn’t embraced hybrids sooner—especially because Subarus have typically lagged behind the competition in fuel economy, in part due to their standard all-wheel drive. But after a couple of false starts in the… Read More →

Subaru has a strong history with turbines. Okay, so they didn’t make turbines directly, but its parent company, Subaru Corporation (formerly Fuji Heavy Industries), manufactures aviation vehicles both on its own and under license. Present-day Subaru Corporation is also a development and manufacturing partner to both Boeing and Lockheed Martin. But what does aviation have to do with today’s article? Well, that’s because our friends from CarBuzz have recently discovered that Subaru has a patent… Read More →

On September 12, 2025, the final Subaru Legacy sedan was driven off the line at the company’s factory in Lafayette, Indiana. The last example was pretty typical for the nameplate. Painted Magnetite Gray, it was equipped with a 182-hp 2.5-liter flat-four, all-wheel drive, a nice stereo, and leather seats. The last Legacy isn’t exactly what you’d call exciting stuff, especially if you grew up with a poster of a bright blue WRX STI launching itself… Read More →

Developing a car is expensive, especially when it uses new technology like electric motors and a big battery pack. So it makes sense for automakers to team up on developing one or more vehicles. Subaru and Toyota are doing just that on a series of EVs that began with the Solterra and bZ4X duo, which arrived for the 2023 model year. In the coming months, the two brands are expanding their EV lineups to three… Read More →

Whether they’re from Silicon Valley or the Motor City, companies around the world are trying to make truly autonomous cars a reality. Most of those companies are attempting this from the car side of things. The car handles everything: it has sensors to read the road, and on-board computers to process what’s happening and to control the vehicle as needed. The advantage of this technique is that the cars can, hypothetically, operate on any road,… Read More →

The first Subaru WRX STI debuted in 1994 and took a full decade to reach audiences in the United States. The last STI bowed in 2021 but is still greatly missed. Subaru does build the WRX in its current 271-hp form, and there’s a tS model with big Brembo brakes and Recaro seats, but we’re still waiting for a proper STI variant. Now, some tantalizing news out of Japan suggests such a car might be… Read More →

Subaru is a brand that’s known to do things a bit differently than other mainstream car manufacturers. All but one of its cars come with standard all-wheel-drive, it has a historic commitment to occupant protection, and all of its internal combustion-engined cars feature a unique horizontally opposed engine layout. These horizontally opposed engines are called “boxer engines,” and they are oriented differently than every other engine configuration on the market. You probably already know that… Read More →

Numbers and perceptions are big motivators for how we see things and the world, and it’s the same in the automotive world. But when a carmaker sells 10 million units every year, it’s easy to say that there is no competition and that no one else can hold a candle. Because bigger is always better, right? Toyota is a global leader when it comes to vehicle sales and the sheer volume of its extent. Yet,… Read More →

If our staff is any indication, the Venn diagram of automotive enthusiasts and photography/video nerds overlaps in a major way. Maybe it’s the emphasis on design in the car industry, or that the same person who finds joy behind the wheel also finds a kind of mechanical satisfaction in using a good camera. Or maybe people just love cars and want to immortalize their memories and share them with others. Whatever the reason, your author… Read More →
