Why The 2023 Subaru Solterra Electric SUV Will Be A Game Changer

It’s obvious that auto manufacturers have shifted focus heavily toward crossovers and SUVs.The thing is, inevitably things can start to look the same as the playing field levels out and it can be hard to separate car makers and models on merit, especially as the running gear for one EV becomes indistinguishable from the next one. You can argue that rather than varied and characterful engines playing a role in vehicle choice, it may fall… Read More →

How Subaru and Prodrive Built Rallying Royalty

This week, we turn the time machine’s dial to 1996, for the preseason ahead of the World Rally Championship’s 1997 season. That means a trip to jolly old England, where the crew at Prodrive were hard at work screwing together Subaru’s effort for the following season. That car ended up being remarkable, the manufacturer’s championship winner for 1997, and one of the most beloved rally cars of all time. You’ll recognize it instantly as the… Read More →

SUBARU’S MAKEOVER FROM FARM MULE TO WRC WINNER

That noise was the trademark off-beat Subaru boxer burble. If late nineties to early noughties’ World Rally Cars had a soundtrack, it would have to be the classic, hard-edged note made by Richards’ Prodrive team in Banbury. Subaru’s WRC story was, of course, established in the pre-World Rally Car days of Group A. It was the Legacy which helped pave the way for the legend that was the Impreza. That was the model which delivered… Read More →

Subaru will revive the GT in new WRX form

Something Subaru and Audi share is a talent for building high-performance estate wagons. Which means that if your budget couldn’t stretch to a six-figure RS 4 or RS 6 estate from Germany, or you just felt reluctant to spend such a large sum, there was always a perky Japanese alternative wearing a starry brand that cost a fraction of the Audi’s purchase price.
