Pastrana told the Sun prior to his packed autograph session at Profile Subaru in Conway on Thursday he is excited about getting the chance to return to the twisting road that snakes up to the 6,288-foot summit of Mount Washington. He says given his powerful new car and the fact that more of the roadway attraction has been paved since the last race in 2017, there is a very strong possibility that he will not… Read More →

The “Climb to the Clouds” has a rich history. First run in July 1904, the race up Mount Washington took place seven years before the first 500-mile race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and 12 years prior to the inaugural Pikes Peak Hillclimb in Colorado. The Climb was run sporadically from 1904-61, then not again until 1990, when it was run consistently until 2001. Following a 10-year hiatus, the Mount Washington Hillclimb returned in 2011 in… Read More →

Subaru has been teasing the second model to wear its new Wilderness badge, but has been coy about which model that would be. We had a very strong hunch that it was the Forester, and now that hunch has been confirmed by the EPA. The Environmental Protection Agency is in charge of testing cars against the same standard to get those mileage ratings you see on a window sticker at the dealer. But in publishing… Read More →

Police in Colorado have warned residents about keeping food in their vehicles after a hungry bear broke into a car before becoming stuck and trashing its interior. Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on Facebook on Monday that police were called out to a report that a bear was stuck in a car. “A very good reason NOT to leave food in your vehicle,” they said in a post alongside footage of the… Read More →

Tiff Needell isn’t exactly a slouch or a conservative driver by any means (watch his McLaren F1 review at Goodwood and you’ll realise that). But put him in the passenger seat next to Colin McRae giving the then-new 1997 Subaru Impreza WRC everything and a rare thing occurs: he’s rendered almost speechless. Such was the blistering pace that made McRae unique. Passenger ride over, it’s time for Tiff to drive the blistered-arched Subaru, first as… Read More →

Subaru’s staggering sales success saw a huge 125% increase in July in a market that shrank by close to 30%. July is not just a blip for Subaru with the brand’s year-to-date accelerating by 158.47% so far in 2021. The official figures issued by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) highlight Subaru as the second fastest growing brand in Britain to the delight of Subaru dealers and managers. Subaru is far ahead of… Read More →

Subarus are cool, and they’re even cooler with a little bit of lift. That’s objectively true, unless you prefer them to be lowered, of course, but there are whole clubs dedicated to off-roading Subies. The car company knows this and has decided to cut out the middleman with its Wilderness trim, which was first added to the Outback wagon. It’s coming to another model soon, and it looks like that’ll be the Forester. Read More →

Ken Block is no stranger to shenanigans behind the wheel of a rally car. And while in recent years those activities involved a vehicle with a Ford badge, Block has returned to his roots for the 2021. The Hoonigan star currently finds himself campaigning a Vermont SportsCar-prepped Subaru WRX STI in America Rally Association events, something he hasn’t done since 2009. Now though, we have a chance to watch Block pit his Subaru against his… Read More →

I’ll put it very plainly upfront. There is a lot wrong with the Subaru Crosstrek, but there’s something about it that gets under your skin, and explains why so many are on the roads. Subaru swung back to profitability in the latest quarter on the back of booming sales in the recovering U.S. market, the Japanese automaker’s traditional earnings engine.
