Subaru shakes down modified 2022 BRZ SUPER GT challenger

The 2022-spec BRZ was revealed to the press at Fuji Speedway on Friday ahead of a shakedown test. While outwardly-similar to the title-winning 2021 machine, the front bodywork has been modified in line with SUPER GT’s GT300 regulations, which unlike FIA GT3 rules do not fix a car’s aerodynamic specification. A pair of gold stripes have also been added to the livery to reflect Subaru’s 2021 title success, the brand’s first in two decades of… Read More →

Subaru Is The Latest Automaker To Shame Its Dealers Over Markups

There’s a local Subaru dealer in Orange County, Irvine Subaru, that has a pretty healthy inventory, especially if you’re in the market for an Outback. They have 57 to choose from, 12 of those are the Outback Wilderness. But it’ll cost you, as every single one is marked up to the same price: $45,673. The markup is one example of many that led to Subaru of America’s CEO to send out a letter telling dealers they need to stop. Read More →

Prodrive’s seven best race and rally cars

If you’ve followed motorsport for the last four decades, whether it be the WRC, WEC or BTCC, you’ll have heard of Prodrive. The company is a motorsport engineering powerhouse and has won almost everywhere it’s competed. It was founded in 1984 by David Richards, a man who trained as an accountant before ditching that entirely and focus on his passion: motorsport. Having spent eight years as a co-driver in the British and Scandinavian rally championships,… Read More →

THE ARA PRODIGY WITH RALLY ROOTS AND BIG PLANS

The American Rally Association presented by DirtFish National podium had a new face at the top spot at Sno*Drift last weekend. Mark Piatkowski of MAP Rally Team beat the odds in his home-built, humble chariot of a Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS in one of the most treacherous rallies the ARA has seen in a while. While Piatkowski is the defending National LN4 champion, he hasn’t stepped up to anything more powerful this year; managing to… Read More →

2022 Subaru WRX Review: Grown Up But Still Down to Clown

I will go to my grave chanting that a Subaru WRX is not a Subaru WRX unless it has unequal length headers. Inefficient? Yes. Who cares? Sounds awesome. But I realize this is very gate-keeping of me because the all-new 2022 Subaru WRX isn’t any worse off without the noise. Today’s version of the rowdy, rally-bred, all-wheel-drive sport compact is more civil, more efficient, and claddier than ever. Longtime WRX fans may cry foul, but… Read More →

TEST DRIVE | Subaru WRX: The Subie wild child adds refinement

SOMEWHERE, USA – On a desolate and winding road with unobstructed views in an undisclosed location in any one of four states, it did not seem necessary to verify the all-new 2022 Subaru WRX’s estimated top speed of 145 mph. Ssshhh. Don’t tell Beautiful Blonde Bride, but I got close. Hey, it wasn’t my fault. Just rolling into showrooms now, the fifth generation, Rallye-inspired sports sedan is built on Subaru’s lighter and tighter global platform,… Read More →

Millennial Mom’s Review: 2022 Subaru Ascent

You know that squint thing that people — myself included — do when they aren’t wearing their glasses? Or the little spectacle raise and head tilt, and a potential squint, to get a better view of somethingblurry? You don’t need to do that if you’re the driver of the 2022 Subaru Ascent. Everything in the front cabin is very easy to see and labelled with big, bold letters, but I’ll get back to that in a… Read More →

PIATKOWSKI WINS AS GEARBOX STEALS SNO*DRIFT FROM SEMENUK

Mark Piatkowski has won his first ever American Rally Association presented by DirtFish National championship event as Subaru Motorsports USA’s Brandon Semenuk retired from an eight-and-a-half minute lead with a gearbox problem on the penultimate stage of Sno*Drift Rally. Semenuk – paired with Takamoto Katsuta’s former World Rally Championship co-driver Keaton Williams for the first time – was the clear favorite for success on the 2022 ARA season opener given team-mate Travis Pastrana is still… Read More →

No-nonsense Subaru tops Consumer Reports brand rankings; domestics don’t make top 10

Domestic brands failed to break the top 10 in Consumer Reports’ 2022 Brand Report Card. Subaru took the top spot, followed by Mazda, BMW, Honda, Lexus, Audi, Porsche, Mini, Toyota and Infiniti. Buick, Chrysler and Dodge ranked 11th, 13th and 16th, respectively, and represented the only domestic brands in the top half among the 32 brands in the report card released Thursday by the nonprofit consumer advocacy group. Jeep, which had reliability issues with the… Read More →
