Stunt driving has always been related to racing, with rally being no exception. Tanner Foust, Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, and Rhys Millen are just a few of the notable rally racers also known for their stuntman capabilities. One stuntperson team in rally you might not have heard of yet, however, is Ele Bardha and Corrina Roshea of Bardha Racing out of Detroit Michigan. Today, Ken Block is a star, the face of an empire of Mustang drag racing and energy drink branding everywhere. Back in 2006, he was just a co-founder of a shoe company running in Rally America. This is the car that changed everything. This 2002 Subaru WRX STi, built to look like the road car circa 2006, was prepared by Vermont SportsCar, the program still building Subaru’s rallying entries today. It carries an extensive domestic… Read More →

One of Subaru’s forgotten limited editions is now up for sale in Hong Kong. This über-low mileage 1999 Subaru Impreza RB5 WR Sport has been listed for HK$728,000 (US$93,900) at a performance car specialist in the former crown colony. Finding a GC Impreza is an achievement in itself, but this Prodrive-fettled tribute to a departed WRC star is about as rare as they get. With only 444 ever made, and of that only 170 believed… Read More →

Subaru has seen huge success in the United States and Canada over the past decade, with the market making up two-thirds of the brand’s global sales. That success has come because Subaru’s specialty is selling precisely what the average American car buyer wants these days: a rugged, spacious, all-wheel-drive crossover that is easy to get people and gear in and out of. The last time we heard anything about Travis Pastrana and his exploits was in December last year when Ken Block’s Hoonigan Racing released a video of him manhandling a monster of an STI as part of the Gymkhana 2020 stunt. But as the new racing seasons are kicking into gear all over the world, the American professional will return to his usual rally racing. Read More →

Every racing team dreams of building a car without any limitations or regulations, but very few get the chance. Sure, Porsche’s LMP1 team got to send off its 919 Hybrid with an unlimited final form and a few lap records that may never fall, but, for most teams, these dreams stay dreams. Few get the opportunity to run their cars to their full potential, and even fewer get the opportunity to build an unlimited car… Read More →

When the opportunity came for Subaru to take over Gymkhana from Ken Block and Ford with the help of Travis Pastrana, the crew at Vermont Sportscar and Subaru Motorsport began building the most hardcore STI before the ink could dry on the contracts. Subaru had a year to develop the car and set up the massive shoot, only to then complete the filming in Pastrana’s hometown of Annapolis in just four days. That’s a narrow… Read More →

Right now, Subaru is all about efficiency and safety. They’re like the Japanese Volvo, and as of this year, almost every car they sell should have the EyeSight driver assistance package. Thus, the STI badge has almost nothing to do with the core of the brand, which is a shame considering how cool a new performance Forester would be. Read More →
