Japanese automaker Subaru Corp (7270.T) said on Tuesday that it was suspending production at its plant in Indiana through the end of April due to a global shortage of semiconductors. Automakers from Ford Motor (F.N) to Nissan Motor (7201.T) have cut production due to the shortage of chips, used extensively in new cars for automatic windows, parking assistance and entertainment systems. Subaru is involved in the EV’s development. Toyota and Subaru originally announced plans to collaborate on a dedicated platform for electric vehicles back in June 2019. The first fruit of their labor is a week away from being officially unveiled as the Auto Shanghai show in China will see the world premiere of a fully electric SUV. Subaru has announced a full price list for the 2022 Legacy and Outback, which are getting a few new features with prices that remain the same or have increased by $100 or less, depending on trim level.
