Did you just buy the all-new Impreza? It’s really nice and impressive, but do you even rugged, bro? I mean how are you going to scale some sick trails, and wear your North Face in a hatchback? Should have waited for the all new 2017 Crosstrek, bro. In case you missed it, Subaru dropped a bomb on us in Geneva in between all the supercars and ultra luxury vehicles with the all-new 2018 Crosstrek. I… Read More →

Once upon a time, there was a modest little Subaru called the Outback Sport. A derivative of the first-generation “just like punk, ’cept it’s cars” Impreza, the Sport existed until 2011, when Fuji’s heavies sent the not-the-same-as-a-real-Outback name off to Paul Hogan’s big backyard in Australia. Its replacement, the XV Crosstrek, hit our shores for the 2013 model year, offering rad wheels and interesting colors. Name games aside, it was the same thing, a pseudo-crossover… Read More →

There’s a brand-new Subaru Crosstrek on the way for 2018, and the European version, known as the XV, is making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. There’s every reason to expect the new Crosstrek to be a stunning sales success. In 2016, Subaru sold 95,677 Crosstreks in the United States, easily besting models like the WRX, Legacy, and the Impreza upon which it’s based. Those sales represented a 7.6 percent gain over the previous… Read More →

As the global odometer rolls over into 2017, the mood across the automotive world (to say nothing of the rest of it) is edging toward apocalyptic. The future that awaits us seems more and more to be one in which those of us whose jobs haven’t been made redundant by the robots will step to our curbs in the morning and be whisked away to work by autonomo-lectric pods — and what’s worse, we won’t… Read More →

In Quebec, winter tires are legally required on passenger vehicles from December through April each year. That would explain why I found myself at the snowy Circuit ICAR racetrack near Montreal to test out General Tire’s latest winter tire, the Altimax Arctic 12. Read More →

As generations change, tastes change. Music, food, even cars all change in consumers’ favorability consciousness. Currently, one of the most popular brands in this part of America is Subaru. As you drive down the road, park when shopping, or talk to neighbors, more of them are piloting cars with the Subaru logo. For a few years, the compact-class Forester crossover carried the honors, but of late, the Outback wagon has regained the top position in… Read More →

The arrival of a 2017 Subaru Legacy Sport in #MTGarage breaks a long dry spell since we’ve done a long-term test of a practical midsize sedan. That previous honor goes to a 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid, which racked up more than 40,000 miles and averaged an impressive 42.3 mpg during its stay. Our new long-term Legacy doesn’t have hybrid power, but it does bring the unique combination of a boxer engine and all-wheel drive—the latter… Read More →

Imagine you’re a young hotshot engineer. You’ve spent the last four years finite-element analyzing your company’s latest hot rod. It’s the latest in high-tech, a finely tuned blend of performance and comfort and, thanks in part to your long hours, the most exquisitely crafted automobile your company has ever produced. If you could, you’d engrave your name into its — to you, at least — absolutely stunning framework. Read More →

With almost all carmakers heaping on the discounts to keep the U.S. auto market at a plateau, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd.’s Subaru just notched its 63rd-straight monthly sales gain, with minimal incentives to get customers in the door. Subaru’s unorthodox marketing strategy — heavy on branding and light on rebates — has been an absolute hit with American consumers. A television campaign in December, for example, didn’t star any cars and instead featured an adopted… Read More →

The Kenya Motorsports Federation (KMSF) will have an audition at this year’s Safari Rally between March 17 and 19 as they hope to catch the attention of the world governing body FIA which is still weighing up the request for the race to return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) circuit in 2019.
