Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore: I found myself liking the Subaru Ascent much more than I expected. The turbo four and light steering made it surprisingly engaging to drive. Industry minister Hiroshige Seko paid a visit to a Subaru plant in the United States to make the point that Japanese firms help the US economy. Seko visited the plant on Thursday in the mid-western state of Indiana. It produces nearly 350,000 cars a year. That’s about half of the units Subaru sells in the US. Subaru of America, Inc. today reported 59,426 vehicle sales for July 2018, a 6.7 percent increase over July 2017, and the best July in the history of the company. The company also reported year-to-date sales of 382,286 vehicles, a 6 percent gain over the same period in 2017. July marked the 53rd consecutive month of 40,000+ vehicle sales for the company.
