The ‘ring record Impreza: You Know You Want To.. A two-door Impreza with 500hp and a record to its name? Yes please!

The Subaru Impreza has been modified ever since the first journalist wrote about a flat-four burble back in the early 90s. It’s the perfect combination of an engine and chassis that responds really well to tuning with a fairly ordinary appearance ripe for, er, improvement. From the factory we’ve had Spec Cs, Spec Ds and RB320s while the aftermarket has thrown up plenty more besides. They’re not often standard, are they? Read More →

Lexus Hovers Atop Most-Engaging Car Ads List

In this week’s Most Engaging Auto Ads, powered for WardsAuto by iSpot.tv, Lexus lands the top spot with an ad featuring not a car, but a hoverboard, while two Subaru dog-themed ads followed closely behind. Lexus’ “It’s Here” was the most-engaging single ad (based on combined online views, social media actions and online search), generating over 16% of all the digital chatter in the category for the week, led by more than 200,000 online views.… Read More →

The Car Guide: The Forester: Built for Affluent Boomers?

When you look at the Forester, you see a compact crossover that’s resolutely utilitarian. And that’s exactly what we liked about it when we recently test drove it. But when you look at the vehicle’s sales figures, you notice a very interesting trend. Even though the Forester is aimed at parents aged 30 to 49 years with a combined income over $110,000 per year, most Forester buyers are actually older than that—and more affluent. Read More →

Auto123: Road-trip: 2016 Subaru Forester

This was supposed to be my first impression review of the new 2016 Subaru Forester. However, as little has changed since last year’s model, apart from a smart new infotainment system and the inclusion of one-touch turn signals (plus a few other tasteful upgrades, which I’ll tell you more about later), Subaru had other plans for us. We were invited to take part in a 1,000km road trip through New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia.… Read More →

Russians Beat US for Hosting Largest Gathering of Subarus

Until last weekend, the United States held the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Subarus ever recorded. However, at the annual SubaFest held in Moscow, Russia, that distinction was taken away. We beat them to the moon; they gather more of the same kind of car in one place. Both impressive feats, eh? Autoguide: 2016 Subaru Forester Review

I have a lot of respect for those old Subarus that are still on the road. Sure, some of them may grumble around with their boxer engines and many look very dated, but then I see that splatter of mud or that small ding or scratch and understand: that’s proof of an adventure. When you’ve been on a few great adventures with a car, it’s hard to give it up or replace it. That’s the… Read More →

Which is better? Seat Leon X-Perience vs Subaru Outback

The crossover market is bursting at the seams will all sorts of jacked-up vehicles that were once superminis, SUVs or 4x4s. One sector that has held firm is that of the beefed-up family estate car, so we decided to compare one of the most old school examples with a new player. The Subaru Outback represents something like four generations, as well as two decades, of 4×4 authenticity and experience. WRC championships, all-wheel drive experience –… Read More →

Where you can still get a 6-speed manual in the 2016 Subaru Outback

Why did Subaru drop the 6-speed manual on the U.S. models? It’s because of tighter fuel mileage regulations here in the U.S. So Subaru needed to drop the 6-speed standard gearbox to meet the more stringent fuel-mileage regulations here in the U.S. market. Subaru equips Outbacks with the new Lineartronic continuously variable transmission because its more fuel efficient in the U.S. Read More →

First Drives 2016 Subaru Forester: You Can’t Knock Virtue

Subaru is one of those special brands in the sense that, like Hyundai, it enjoys a very loyal clientele. While this may be surprising about Hyundai, it’s less so with Subaru considering that all of the brand’s vehicles—except the BRZ—come with all-wheel drive. This full-time symmetrical system is one of the best of its kind, so it’s easy to understand why families that have already owned a good wagon robust enough for cold temperatures and… Read More →

What Makes a Subaru a Subaru? Spectacular Plants Like This

The first thing you notice when you start the tour at the Subaru plant in Lafayette, Ind., is the noise. Even with earplugs snugly stuffed into your skull the deafening sound of the factory permeates your eardrums with its constant roar, and it does not cease until you exit into the lobby. Everywhere you turn there is danger, as autonomously operated robots zip by beneath four-story stamping machines that spit-out entire Outback halves, all while forklifts and trolly cars… Read More →
