Taylor Bourne yesterday buckled up for the ride of his life; racing a Subaru Impreza WRX in a rally honouring his late father, legend Possum Bourne. Like a Franklin Terrace dope fiend jonesin’ for those WMDs, Americans are thoroughly addicted to buying new Subarus. Subaru just recorded its best sales month of all time in August, and that’s on top of an insane record-breaking sales streak that has lasted well over a year. How did we get so hooked on Subaru? The 2014 model arriving this fall won’t include the obvious — the more powerful engines found in the Forester. The Crosstrek will instead become Subaru’s first hybrid with a small electric motor to run parallel with the gasoline engine to boost both acceleration and fuel economy. Read More →

Many brands will claim to have invented the crossover segment. Which one is actually responsible is irrelevant. Subaru has perfected it. Of the seven cars it sells in South Africa, four blend one form of genre with another. Some even cross crossovers. Read More →
