Subaru to increase Japanese production 78 percent, despite strong yen

While major automakers based in Japan have been frantic at expanding their overseas production in order to avoid the impact of the strong yen, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. is doing the exact opposite. It has decided to increase its domestic manufacturing. Subaru’s Outback and Legacy Plant to Break New Ground

Following a record year of sales for its Outback wagon and Legacy sedan in 2011, Subaru has announced that it will meet the increasing demand at Subaru dealerships by expanding the central Indiana plant where the vehicles are built.
