Looks like we will miss out again. Thrilling many hardcore Subaru STI fans back in 2019, America got exactly 209 units of the high-performance WRX-based S209 sports sedans, but as for the just-revealed, limited edition 2025 model S210 follow-up, well, it seems as though this time we miss out. If you’re even vaguely familiar with rallying then the name Nicky Grist should mean something to you: his voice was the soft but authoritative Welsh-accented one that soundtracked some truly wild onboard videos as he read pace notes to Colin McRae in the latter part of the late Scotsman’s career. Undoubtedly one of the most recognisable names among those who willingly strap themselves into the passenger seats of rally cars hurtling through forests at preposterous… Read More →

Last month, Subaru of Japan offered skiers a more fun way to get to the top of the hill than the usual chair lift. Over four days at the Naeba resort, situated a couple of hours by car or transit northeast of Tokyo, snowsports enthusiasts could hop in a Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and have a pro driver slew it through the snow on the way up. Subaru calls this event the Gelande Taxi, and it’s… Read More →

The 2025 World Rally Championship campaign stops off in Scandinavia for the snowy stages of Rally Sweden this week, where every fraction of a second can be crucial. Twenty years ago, that was never more apparent than in one of the event’s all-time great tussles, where two men were separated by a split-second measurement on ice. Cast your mind back to 2005. Chelsea were romping away to a then-record points haul for the Premier League… Read More →

Walking across the car park towards his Subaru first thing on Saturday morning, Brandon Semenuk caught some ice. Ordinary people might well have headed south and bounced. The Canadian gathered it up and barely noticed. That was the triple American champion’s only moment in a flawless season-opening Sno*Drift Rally. He and co-driver Keaton Williams bossed round one of the ARA National Championship presented by Kubota from the start of the first stage to the end… Read More →

As the Friday night darkness descends over the frozen fields of Michigan, Brandon Semenuk will fire up his Subaru WRX to begin a third consecutive defense of his ARA National Championship presented by Kubota crown. And the good news this year? The snow’s back in the Sno*Drift. Last month Sébastien Ogier talked about the final day of the Monte Carlo Rally sporting the right livery, showing its true colors. That’s when the snow came. It’s… Read More →
