he verdict: Subaru simply needed to not screw up a good thing with the redesigned 2024 Crosstrek. Mission accomplished. Versus the competition: Other subcompact SUVs may be quicker, some may have better tech, but few can match the Crosstrek’s combination of genuine go-anywhere energy, excellent comfort and stellar space efficiency at this level of screaming value. Here’s a fun fact: Last year, Subaru sold more Crosstreks than any year in the model’s nearly 12-year history.… Read More →

The Subaru Crosstrek looks like it knows no boundaries. Chunky black hexagons spill out of the center of its grille, and matte plastic clads all the sharp body lines on the tiny SUV. Inside, the five-seater easily becomes a two-seater, with the rear seatbacks flipping down to welcome most of the popular adventure props. All your canoes and tents that don’t fit in the back can go up top. If it could speak, the Crosstrek… Read More →

The Subaru WRX is one car that’s been synonymous with the world rally scene since it was launched in the early 1990s, claiming wins in some of the top globally acclaimed rally circuits, such as the 24-hour Nurburgring race, Australian Rally Championship (ARC), and manufacturer’s championship races. The car featured a powerful turbocharged engine and a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, which propelled it to success on asphalt and off-road. People often talk about the Subaru… Read More →

North American rally star Brandon Semenuk wants to cross the Atlantic to compete on European rounds of the World Rally Championship – but he’s not prepared to do that at any cost. Semenuk, last year’s Green APU American Rally Association champion, has never competed outside of North America, but is ready to take that step if the right opportunity arrives. “I would hope to get the chance,” he told DirtFish, “but the stars need to… Read More →

February was a good month for Subaru, as it posted its seventh straight month of yearly month-over-month growth. The 45,790 cars Subaru sold last month marked a 2.1 percent sales increase over February 2022’s 44,866 cars sold. More specifically, one of the cars that helped propel those record sales was the Subaru WRX, which saw an increase of 8,280.7% versus last February. Read More →

Pickup trucks and performance vehicles are certainly the darlings of the ever-growing electric vehicle segment, but it’s the compact SUV, or crossover, segment where most of the action is occurring. There are more than a dozen such EV models available in Canada, and this newcomer from Subaru adds to that expanding list. Read More →

Most people wouldn’t call it an enthusiast car. The Subaru Crosstrek has never had a strong base engine, and even the Sport is far from a WRX. We’ve given it little attention, even as it’s quietly become Subaru’s best-seller. But as the 2023 model faded out, I realized I was going to miss it. It is an enthusiast vehicle, just not in a normal way. This isn’t an entry point to sports cars or racing,… Read More →

Subaru (OTCPK:FUJHY) was one of the latest companies in my look at “Asian businesses” that I did back in late 2022 and early 2023. While this company was once a business with particular exposure to both military and aerospace, this is no longer the case. In the current context, the company is primarily an Asian automotive business, with a small licensing deal, offering the company the potential to manufacture helicopters and planes – though this… Read More →

Subaru has an intensely loyal following, but it doesn’t move anywhere near the volume of new vehicles that its Japanese rivals do. The shift to electric vehicles brings a whole new set of challenges, all of which the automaker will need to navigate without the benefit of unlimited funds. To “survive the age of electrification,” as its incoming CEO put it, Subaru is changing its executive bench and focusing its efforts on using its small… Read More →
