In August 2023, Subaru sold 915 Solterras, and in August 2024, it sold 1,417 of its BEV – a 55% increase. Year-to-date, 8,063 Solterras have sold – that’s a nearly 74% jump over 2023, when 4,645 Solterras sold. It’s probably not a coincidence that the Subaru Solterra was the most discounted car – including gas cars – in the US in August. The Solterra’s starting price last month was $46,340, and it sells for 12%… Read More →

When the Impreza won its first WRC event amid controversy

espite its Impreza 555 being lightning quick and scoring a podium straight out of the box, it took Subaru almost a year to claim the model’s first win in the World Rally Championship. It was not the straightforward affair Carlos Sainz’s eventual winning margin of four minutes would suggest, as team-mate Colin McRae was controversially excluded for alleged unsportsmanlike behavior. We’re rewinding the clock back 30 years to remember this tale, to a time when… Read More →

Road-Tripping a 2025 Subaru Forester Sport to the 2024 Subiefest California

It is against the law to touch a sea otter. Under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act, you’re not even supposed to get within a few feet of them, which can be a challenge when you’re kayaking in the Elkhorn Slough along the California coast and curious otters keep popping up next to you. “Just row away from them,” said our guide, with the patient voice of a man who spends… Read More →

How the world of rally racing helps Subaru of America connect and engage with customers, fans

These are just some of the sights and sounds from April’s Olympus Rally, an annual two-day gathering here near the base of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula that’s part endurance racing, part car show and part celebration of all things Subaru. Why Subaru’s number one is suddenly under title pressure

Halfway through 2024, you’d have got incredibly long odds on anything other than another Brandon Semenuk title win. Even the return of Subaru Motorsports USA team-mate Travis Pastrana did nothing to destabilize the dominant Canadian, who after April’s Olympus Rally had won 12 American Rally Association National events on the bounce. But after a second DNF in three starts, and a first win in three years for Pastrana at last weekend’s Ojibwe Forests Rally, suddenly… Read More →

The e-mail that could transform a young American’s career

Madelyn Tabor woke up one morning to a message that may end up changing her entire life trajectory. “I woke up to the email and I was like, look at this! Like half awake.
