Javelina traps itself in car, knocks vehicle into neutral in pursuit of Cheetos

A javelina in Arizona got stuck in a car last week during a pursuit for Cheetos, officials said. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy responded to a call on Wednesday and found the creature in a Subaru station wagon. The deputy learned from neighbors and the owner of the car that the hatchback had been left open overnight “and the javelina jumped inside attempting to eat a bag” of Cheetos, according to a… Read More →

A Detailed Look At The Subaru XT

Subaru’s XT model was not in production for very long. It was produced for only six years in total, but it is still well-regarded today as one of the manufacturer’s funkiest looking sports cars. With its wedged-shaped exterior, it certainly has very different styling in comparison to other vehicles of the time period. In fact, its look was so unique that the New York Times said it has “the ultimate in jazzy design”, which was… Read More →

Subaru Australia has opened the order books for the new-generation WRX, with pricing kicking off from $44,990 before on-road costs for the sedan, and $49,990 for the WRX Sportwagon. Powered by a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder Boxer engine, the 2022 WRX punches out 202kW/350Nm to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, or a continuously variable transmission. This puts the WRX squarely in line with hot hatches like the Ford Focus ST (from $47,490), Hyundai… Read More →

FROM OLYMPIC GOLD TO RALLYING A SUBARU IMPREZA

In sporting terms, New Zealand is famous for four things: rallying, rugby, rowing and sailing. Two of those entities will collide when the New Zealand Rally Championship gets underway next month on the Otago Rally. If you’re into your rowing, Hamish Bond will need no introduction. His Olympic gold medals (London 2012 coxless pair, Rio de Janeiro 2016 coxless pair and Tokyo 2020 in the eight division), and six gold medals in the World Rowing… Read More →

2022 Subaru WRX Sales Have Dropped 90 Percent This Year

When the latest generation of Subaru WRX debuted, reception was… mixed. Some hated the black plastic that wrapped around the bottom of its body, while others promised that once you see it in person, it really isn’t that bad. But a new car is always, at the end of the day, judged by its sales — a front on which the new Rex is not doing well. Read More →

The 2022 Subaru WRX Is Better in Real Life Than on Paper

Subaru has come a long way since the days of Paul Hogan and pioneering LGBTQ-friendly ads. Back in the ’80s and ’90s, it was a scrappy upstart of a Japanese car company in the U.S. market, attempting to separate itself from the pack with fun features like four-wheel-drive and extra ground clearance. Obviously, that bet paid off. The brand saw sales rise for more than 70 consecutive quarters, as buyers responded warmly to the idea… Read More →

I Find The Toyota GR Corolla Funny For One Reason..Subaru picked an intriguing time to stop selling the STI

I’ve been a fan of small, sporty Toyotas ever since my buddy told me about riding around California as a kid in his dad’s 1980s FX16, a twin-cam hot hatch the world wasn’t ready for at the time. So I’m not mad that there’s a new 300-horsepower Toyota GR Corolla hot hatchback, I just find one coincidence funny. It all started this morning when we first saw the leaked photos and specs of the car.… Read More →

The Deer Wagon: I Traded My Silverado for a Subaru—and I Don’t Regret It

There’s an old joke about people confessing their sins out loud in church, where the preacher encourages the congregation to “Tell it all, brother!” This goes well until one of the men, in the enthusiasm of the moment, shares too much information. The preacher replies, “I wouldn’t have told that, brother!” I’m about to confess something I might wish I hadn’t told: I gave my pickup truck to my teenagers and bought a compact crossover.
