The 2024 Subaru Impreza RS First Test: Granola With Spice

Less choice doesn’t always have to be a bad thing, especially if something better comes out of the consolidation. That might be what Subaru was thinking when it launched the sixth-generation Impreza for 2024. The company has streamlined its compact-car lineup from four trims to three, and all Imprezas are now cargo-friendly hatchbacks; the sedan has been retired. Read More →

It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, No, Subaru Now Has A Flying Car!

You could be excused for thinking that Subaru unveiled a real-life UFO at last month’s Japan Mobility Show. Suspended in mid-air above Subaru’s electric Sport Mobility Concept car was a strange-looking half-drone, half-hovercraft resembling contraption called the ‘Air Mobility Concept.’ And it certainly raised eyebrows as Subaru took license with the newly renamed ‘Mobility Show’ (which used to be the Tokyo Motor Show) to offer a different form of mobility to that normally displayed —… Read More →

Video: drifting the 862bhp Subaru Family Huckster with Travis Pastrana

“Err on the side of aggressive…” This is the Travis Pastrana life motto. He is not what you’d call a typical driving instructor. And his 1983 Subaru GL wagon isn’t your typical driving instructor’s car. The ‘Family Huckster’ is powered by an 862bhp flat-four boxer engine. It gets active aero, a six-speed sequential box and runs four bar of boost. It doesn’t come with dual control pedals. Read More →

How a WRC legend first took centre stage 30 years ago

Thirty years have now passed but the 1993 World Rally Championship season will always be remembered as a year of firsts. It was Toyota’s Juha Kankkunen who ultimately emerged with the spoils, becoming the first four-time world champion and record rally winner to boot after seeing off the factory Ford challenge from Francois Delecour and… Read More →

2025 Subaru Forester Reveal: Less Frumpy, But Very Familiar

Subarus evolve slowly. So slowly that at a glance, it’s sometimes hard to tell one generation of Outback or Impreza from the last. That won’t be the case with the 2025 Subaru Forester, revealed just ahead of the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, but Forester fans will find the recipe very familiar. The restyled 2025 will offer lots of little upgrades and a fresh, and less frumpy wrapper, but the best is yet to come.… Read More →

Subaru Turns To Toyota For New Forester Hybrid

Subaru’s design team phoned it in with the 2025 Forester, but they weren’t the only ones slacking as the engineering team decided to take an early lunch and let Toyota do some of the heavy lifting. Speaking to Autonews, Subaru of America’s Jeff Walters said the upcoming hybrid variant will have a “Toyota-sourced battery [and electric components] joined with a boxer engine.” He added the hybrid will arrive roughly one year after the standard model… Read More →

Lewis Bates and Anthony McLoughlin have finished the opening day of the Subaru Canberra Rally of Canberra just seconds on top of the event standings after a dramatic six stages. In what was an extremely tough day for crews facing challenging conditions, the reigning ARC champions’ consistency saw them end the day with a narrow three second advantage over Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia teammates Harry Bates and Coral Taylor.
