Although most compact SUVs fit various driving needs, few offer the same off-road prowess and adventurous spirit as the 2023 Subaru Outback. Originally built as an off-road wagon, the Outback has grown from a compact model into a midsize SUV with ample cargo room, impressive ground clearance, a capable AWD system, and practical features that make it a great option when you want something more than a traditional compact SUV. Groupthink isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you’re following the crowd to some of the best new car options, though if it means shoppers overlook the 2024 Subaru Impreza RS, then they’re undoubtedly missing out. A few heavyweights — I’m looking at you, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla — dominate the affordable hatchback segment, and with good reason: they’re reliable and predictable. That’s not to say there’s no space for a more off-beat option, especially… Read More →

If you were to believe social media, the archetypal car collector should be a chiselled, brilliantly tanned entrepreneur with teeth so bright only the Large Hadron Collider could accurately measure the light they emit. Most of these characters are usually found at the more insufferable end of the personality scale. But worse yet, this attitude gives very little insight into their actual passion for cars, instead functioning more as a peacocking exercise to showcase their… Read More →

One of the oldest sayings in motorsport – and vehicles sales – is “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday.” Another spin on this bon mot is “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” For many carmakers (and motorcycle makers and snowmobile makers and boat makers and you get the idea) it’s enough to be out in the mix and competing, but to actually be out there and winning is all that much better. And much more… Read More →

The past couple of years have seen the small pickup truck revived. Manufacturers weren’t even sure about mid-size trucks until a few years ago, but now, we have trucks that are unabashedly compact and crossover-based. Ford launched its all-new, Built Ford Tough Maverick; Hyundai, in turn, debuted the all-new Santa Cruz, which they insist is not a truck but a “sport adventure vehicle.” Read More →

Among the trailblazing teams were Tina and Caroline Gatimu – the first mother-daughter crew to tackle the African classic in its 70-edition history – in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Joining them in a trio of Subaru Imprezas were Tash Tundo/Chantal Young, Jennifer Malik/Wangui Mungai and Pauline Sheghu/Linet Ayuko. All four teams were proudly supported by the Government of Kenya through its Talanta Hela initiative. Aligned with the government’s bottom-up economic transformation agenda, Talanta Hela strives… Read More →

Subaru has long been a bit of an off-beat carmaker. Peer into its past, and you’ll find all sorts of wacky, think-outside-the-box vehicles: the Brat, the Baja, the SVX, the B9 Tribeca. For the last few decades, though, here in America, it’s been largely defined by what might be called the Stereotypical Subaru: an all-wheel-drive, body-cladded and lifted car designed to offer much of what people like in a sport-utility vehicle (off-road /all-weather capability, specifically)… Read More →

PD Group, once the largest automotive dealer in China, has officially withdrawn from Subaru China, leaving Subaru Corporation in Japan the sole controlling shareholder. The move transforms Subaru China from a joint venture to a wholly-owned foreign entity. Subaru Corporation is a Japanese automotive manufacturing company. In March 2006, the auto manufacturer and PD Group established Subaru China, with ownership stakes of 60% and 40%, respectively, to import cars into the Chinese market and wholesale… Read More →
