As of late, Subaru is a company focused more on evolutionary updates, not revolutionary ones. This theme continues with the all-new Impreza that enters the model’s sixth generation for the 2024 model year. Although at first glance the new car is instantly recognizable, a closer look though reveals subtle changes here and there. Notably the more aggressive headlights and taillights, as well as the larger frameless grille. Read More →

Over the years, the Subaru Crosstrek has gone through a series of improvements giving it a competitive edge in the subcompact crossover SUV segment. It’s characterized mainly by drive reliability on tarmac and gravel roads thanks to the standard symmetrical all-wheel-drive system and is relatively affordable for most buyers. This coupled with its stylish design and pocket-friendly fuel economy is what has made it one of the best-selling Subaru models. Growing from being simply regarded… Read More →

The forests in Ohio will be alive to the gorgeous sound of a BDA, as 2020 American Rally Association National champion Barry McKenna brings his Ford Escort Mk2 out for this weekend’s Southern Ohio Forest Rally. McKenna normally pilots a modified version of the last generation of Ford Fiesta WRC, last appearing on the 100 Acre Wood Rally earlier this year where he was narrowly beaten by Subaru’s Brandon Semenuk in an epic contest. But with… Read More →

As the Crosstrek is Subaru’s bestselling model in Canada, accounting for just over a third of all its sales, the company has taken a decidedly conservative approach to its 2024 redesign. The third generation Crosstrek offers the same basic dimensions as the previous one, and the same engine choices (minus the limited production Crosstrek PHEV, or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.) But Subaru Canada has to draw a fine line in the sand with this latest… Read More →

Subaru has been known for its ability to listen to what the consumers had to say since it started shipping cars to the American markets in 1968. It is a common misconception that the company hit the ground running, taking off from day one as a very successful carmaker. That was not the case, though, because, like most other manufacturers in the industry, they had some ups and downs. One of those ups came in… Read More →

Subaru is open to a return to the Australian Rally Championship, despite stepping away from the sport when its production-based WRX proved uncompetitive for outright victories. Speaking to Torquecafe at the launch of the new Crosstrek small SUV, Subaru Australia managing director, Blair Read, said that the sport remains a vital part of the brand’s image even as its involvement has waned. The Japanese brand hasn’t been involved in the top-level of the sport since… Read More →

Two-time champion Marcus Grönholm led the field out of the town of Varzi and into the surrounding hills for a Friday evening loosener ahead of a full day’s sport on Saturday. The Finn wound back the years beautifully, with a fine run through the first stage to take eight seconds out of everybody in just six kilometres. Sadly for him and his now FIA sporting delegate co-driver Timo Rautiainen, they went off the road at… Read More →

Rhianon Gelsomino is perhaps Australia’s most under-rated motorsport exports. While there’s (justifiable) excitement around the likes of Oscar Piastri and Scott McLaughlin, Gelsomino has become a multiple rally champion and worked with some of the biggest names in the business. While some will remember her as successfully co-driving for her brother, Brendan Reeves, in the Australian scene, she has been based in the USA since 2012. While she has competed around the world the highlight… Read More →
