Toyota Electric SUV Shows Its Face Ahead Of April 19 Debut

Subaru is involved in the EV’s development. Toyota and Subaru originally announced plans to collaborate on a dedicated platform for electric vehicles back in June 2019. The first fruit of their labor is a week away from being officially unveiled as the Auto Shanghai show in China will see the world premiere of a fully electric SUV. We’re going to discover Toyota’s version first, with a Subaru equivalent reportedly called “Evoltis” likely not far behind. Read More →

Someone Just Spent $312,555 on a 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STI With 25K Miles

The Subaru Impreza 22B STI is without question the seven-star marque’s most iconic model. Built in a series of 400 cars to commemorate its third straight manufacturers’ title in the World Rally Championship, the 22B is emblematic of Subaru’s golden era of Colin McRae at the wheel and triumph over rival Mitsubishi. Today, they’re consistently the most valuable Subarus on the market, as demonstrated once again by a 22B imported to the United States that… Read More →

When it comes to classic names in rally racing, despite the decades-old history of the sport, only two manufacturers tend to come to mind. ‘In a moment of white-hot clarity my brain calculated McRae would be apexing precisely where we were standing’

Aside from the rare pleasure of driving a 22B for issue 282’s cover story, getting back behind the wheel of a late-’90s Subaru stirred some very welcome memories. Securing an exclusive UK first drive of the 22B for the very first issue of this magazine back in 1998 was a highlight for obvious reasons. However, it’s a memory from the year before – when spectating on the 1997 RAC Rally with a mate – that’s… Read More →

10 Facts About The Grueling Rebelle Rally

Rebelle Rally is one of the most unique motorsports events. In essence, it is a 10 day, 1.600-mile navigational rally. America’s first all-woman rally raid takes place in the unforgiving and gruesome Nevada and California deserts, where the temperature changes are extreme, the terrain is terrifying, navigation is hard and driving conditions are unfavorable to put it kindly. 376 women endured the terrain, conditions, and overcame the difficulties since the rally’s inaugural race in 2016.… Read More →

Why Mitsubishi, Subaru and Ford should join Cupra in Extreme E electric SUV racing

As the automotive world shifts towards electric vehicles (EVs), and specifically electric SUVs, Extreme E could be used to make these types of cars appealing to a wider audience in a similar way the World Rally Championship (WRC) turned the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Subaru Impreza WRX STI into hero models. Extreme E is unlike any other form of motor racing, pitting teams of male-female drivers against each other in time trials and then side-by-side… Read More →

2021 SUBARU FORESTER LONG-TERM REVIEW, PART 7: CONCLUSION

By the end of this three-month test drive of the 2021 Subaru Forester Touring (priced from $36,508), I had covered 3,680 km and maintained an average fuel consumption of 8.4L/100 km. Those paying attention will no doubt say to themselves: Not even 4,000 km in three months. That’s pretty little, and it wasn’t for lack of a desire to pile on more kilometres. The pandemic has simply made it harder to get around. In any… Read More →

Subaru cuts output by 10,000 vehicles over chip shortage

Subaru will reduce vehicle production by about 10,000 autos at a Japanese assembly plant as the industry struggles with a shortage of chips. The Yajima plant in Gunma Prefecture, which builds models including the Outback and Forester, will suspend operations starting Saturday. One line will be idled for 13 workdays, and the other for eight, under plans announced Monday. The output reduction is not related to the March 19 fire at a chipmaking plant run… Read More →
