The buzz surrounding the Subaru WRX STI, or rather the continued lack thereof, has been heating up for months at this point. Subaru didn’t calm the situation with the debut of the Performance-B STI Concept at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, which raised the intensity to a fever pitch thanks to its hatchback bodystyle, turbocharged engine, and manual transmission. And while the automaker is still being fairly cagey about any potential future for the legendary nameplate, some newly discovered patent filings in Japan are only making fans more eager.
