The single photo was flashed up on screen by Tetsuro Fujinuki, Subaru’s chief technical officer. He said the vehicle’s full unveiling will come at the Japan Mobility Show in late October.
So what exactly is this mysterious WRX-like product? There’s a bit of blur on the edges, but the photo seems to depict a four-door vehicle with more aggressive styling than the current WRX everywhere you look. Subaru adds a large front lip spoiler that juts far out in front of the front bumper. Its front grille features a fresh design, and we can say the same for the headlights that sport a new DRL signature. The hood has a massive scoop in traditional WRX style, but there appear to be a couple of additional vents on the edges of the hood for enhanced cooling. Fenders that protrude away from the body suggest a wider track than a current stock WRX, though it’s tough to tell exactly what we’re looking at with the blurring effect.
