It’s the season of giving, and the folks running Subaru’s social media accounts have given the gift of two teaser videos offering a glimpse at a new WRX STI model, scheduled for a debut on January 9, 2026, likely to occur at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
This reveal follows Subaru’s recent showing of two STI concept models at the Tokyo Auto Show, though this inbound WRX graced by Subaru Tecnica International is based on the current VB generation of the rally-inspired compact. We know it’s a WRX from just the first few frames: A large hood scoop and wide grille are key giveaways, the latter adorned with a cherry blossom “STI” badge. The next shot shows the wheel arch body cladding and a set of wheels derived from the current tS and previous TR grades.
