In the early 2000s, Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evo and Subaru’s WRX STI took part in a fierce rivalry that forced fans to take sides. On paper, the cars were highly similar: turbocharged four-cylinder power, four-door practicality, all-wheel drive for grip. But in personality, one was razor sharp and a little unforgiving, where the other was friendly and loved to tear around in the dirt. In short, the Evo was a cat, and the WRX was a dog. Who’s a good boosty boy?
Turns out, Subaru as a brand is hugely popular with dog enthusiasts these days: nearly half of all Subie owners also have a dog in the family. With 643,591 sales last year, that’s a heck of a lot of vacuuming of carpets. Best not to think about all the poop bags.
