With sunnier weather abound and an 18,000-mile service complete (oil and filter change, tire rotation, and multi-point inspection), it was time to ratchet up the STI’s spiciness. After receiving Subaru’s blessing, I went about tastefully modifying “my” STI, as most real owners would. Just as I mimicked the iconic Spec C Type RA-R’s look a few months prior, I again took inspiration from a famous WRX STI: Subaru’s class-dominating NBR 24H Challenge racer. Power isn’t something the STI necessarily lacks (no need for me to void the powertrain warranty, either), so for Suparu v3.0 (the chosen name of this latest iteration) I focused on tightening its handling and braking.
