Subaru’s STI performance arm “is not dead”, its Australian boss claims, saying there is still plenty happening behind the scenes.
At the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, Subaru revealed a new special edition of the Subaru WRX sports sedan – the WRX STI Sport# – but without a rear wing or more power, and the results left fans wanting.
Performance enthusiasts had got their hopes up that the reveal would be the rebirth of the STI brand (Subaru Tecnica International), after the last remaining model – the WRX STI EJ25 Final Edition – was discontinued in 2021.
